Here is another good smoothie recipe. It’s so lemony and creamy… Yum! Now, I’d like to mention that smoothies aren’t the healthiest thing in the world to eat because the blender will breakdown and separate the fiber from the foods and you will absorb the sugars faster. They are also not as filling as eating the food whole. However, if you are in generally good health and not actively trying to lose a lot of weight, then I believe the occasional smoothie is just fine. Especially if you are using it as a dessert replacement! When I am wanting a sweet treat I will often turn to a smoothie, especially in the summer! And this smoothie makes for a great dessert. I used vanilla non-dairy yogurt in this recipe, but if you are watching your sugar real close, then you can easily sub unsweetened yogurt and add vanilla extract instead.
Lemon Creme Pie Smoothie
1 1/2 frozen bananas
1 c. non-dairy milk
1/3 c. vanilla non-dairy yogurt
1-2 Tbsp. ground flax or oats
2-3 drops lemon essential oil, OR 1 Tbsp. lemon juice and zest of 1 lemon
1/8 tsp. turmeric – for color only
Blend all ingredients well and enjoy!
